Hi, I just wanted to introduce Burt. He is the best little Dude ever. I do need to say he is a bit stubborn which I guess is a good thing but also can be frustrating when I'm trying to get him to try new veg or fruit. He only likes turnip greens and maybe green pepper and apple. He has trouble picking it up with his tongue and gives up easily.
He loves his crickets and worms.
What are your thoughts on Super worms? ( is it a myth about their being able to eat stomach lining if not chewed well?
He has an appetite for those.
Burt use to love his baths but now not so much. Loves a good spray though. Does anyone's Beardie actually drink water?
What other veggies and fruit are good to try?
I've tried
Squash ( spaghetti , yellow, butternut, acorn)
Zucchini
Raspberry
Pear
Horta dandelion
Strawberry no seeds
Watermelon
Cantaloupe
Red pepper
More but can't remember off hand..
Thanks for any help..
Also any feedback about substrate would be appreciated. I am using newspaper but I've been told so many different things about calci sand.. Looks comfortable but scares me for him.

Excuse me if I sound ignorant in any way I truly am not, I just have heard so many different things and I'm always interested in other owners perspectives?
Thanks

BURTSMAMA

No no no on the calci sand. If sand is desired than you can use washed and sifted childrens play sand.or paper towel newspaper repti carpet. As far as the food check out beautifuldragons.com they have a whole list of what/what not to feed beardies. Hope this helps. Also most beardies cant see standing water so most wont drink out of a bowl.and the meal worm thing im pretty sure is just a myth. Theres people that feed them as a staple food. I guess it just depends in who you ask.

I never had a problem massively with meal worms, haze loved them and went through a stage of only eating them and not liking her crickets. But when she was on the worms she would only poop once or twice a week. & when she's on her regular diet of locusts, crickets & salad she poops every other day
So I got a bit worried and stopped giving her them because I'd hate it if she was backed up and uncomfortable

Thanks so much for the feedback. I will just stick with newspaper and repti carpet.
The children's play sand? What makes that sand safer than the rest? Is there something different about it that will not cause impaction?
Thanks for the website. As well.
The only reason I mentioned water is because he use to drink in his bath but now not at all.

Childrens playsand is washed and sifted and most peopke will sift again before using it just to be sure. The sand doesnt clump together like calci sand does so if ingested chances for impaction are very minimal

I used children playsand as it is toxic free and hell
Of alot cheaper i have been told by alot of reptile experts.. As for meals worms depending on the size of ur bearded dragon morio worms mine prefer also the meat to shell ratio is better in a morio worm than a meal worm. My female used to drink water from a bowl but she decided against that idea. I have come across a few situations with my two beardies nothing to cause alarm once i read up on brumation and understood what their behaviour would be like if u have any question i'l try my best to help

Thanks again I value your knowledge and the support here.
My family thinks I'm a bit wacky with Burt so I'm glad to have a place to go where people get "The Love" I have for him and that wacky I'm not lol!!
So the play sand can be found at a Home Depot? Or is there anywhere else that it's sold in smaller quantities?
Thanks again
Have a great Day!!
