I am going to move my juvie beardie from his 10-gallon tank to a 30-gallon. I already have the 30-gallon tank and screen for the top. I need exact help with heating and lighting, please.
Beardie is very happy with his tank beside a window so I want to continue to keep him there. I do worry that it will be hard to keep the tank wam during winter months. So I am thinking of buying a reptile heating pad for underneath the tank. What size/brand would you recommend? Does it need to completely cover underneath the bottom, or should it be shorter so there is a cooler side?
What hood and lights should I get? I have a double dome light over the 10 gallon with the basking light and the uvb bulb in it. I don’t think this will be coverage enough for the 30-gallon.
If recommending products, please be specific. I will likely buy at Feeders Supply or Amazon. Thank you to anyone who can give me guidance.

Welcome to the forum:)
Please NO HEAT PAD,…… these are dangerous, bearded dragons only get heat from above, heating them with a pad does nothing.

also minimum requirements for a dragon are 40gallon enclosures…… even that is too small in my opinion, atleast give ur pet a 50-75…. They need space to thrive..

These are what i use , fixture/bulb wise…. You NEED to get rid of the “compact” “coil” uvb these offer too much uvb in a concentrated stream, or little to none at all, he NEEDS a long tubular uvb so the uv can be spread throughout the enclosure properly, don’t throw away ur double hood, put a basking bulb in it and a CHE on the other side for nighttime heat. Im not an expert with lighting, but what I pictured below is what mostly everyone uses….

Skybug,
Thank you for the welcome and for the information! This is just what I was looking for: actual pictures and explanations. I will start now looking for a bigger enclosure and use it instead of the 30-gallon. And so glad you told me not to get the heating pad!
I am excited to get my boy into a bigger home. I just love that boy so much! ❤️
