Hey everyone! I had bunch of strange travel plans this past summer and had to take my bearded dragon around with me for a lot of it. Around the middle of that whole process, he (Drogon) started acting really lethargic, stayed in his hide the majority of the time, and slept basically all day (and night). During this behavior, he also does go to the bathroom often (about every week or so) as he virtually doesn't eat until I move him into a separate feeding container (this is abnormal as he used to just eat inside his enclosure).

When we moved back into a more permanent location, this behavior started to go away. However, it has recently came back again and I want to make sure that he's okay. So, with that being said, here's some information that I know is important for diagnosis.

TEMPS:
- Hotside: Ranges from 98F-103F
- Coldside: Ranges from 83F-87F

DIET:
- Crickets (Main Feeder)
- Superworms (Occasional treat/feeder to add variety)
- Kale
- Mustard Greens
- Carrots
- Apples

AGE:
- 1 year old

SUBSTRATE:
- Repticarpet

ENCLOSURE:
- 40 gallon tank
- 2 separate hides
- Feeding Bowl
- Water dish
- Climbing logs

I give him a bath every month and that usually helps him clear his system. However, I feel like I must be doing something really wrong. I originally thought it was Brumation, but the on-off nature of his behavior doesn't seem to fit Brumation symptoms. Any advice, tips, or words of wisdom that anyone can give me would be much appreciated.

Thank you so much!

Welcome to the forum..
A big part of things could very well be the stress of his environment and all the changes.. They tend to not like changes to their "home" . How old is your UVB bulb? When he basks at the top temp area does he gap? If not he may want a few bumps in temp but GO slowly so you know if it's too hot for him.. Make sure that the UVB and basking overlap a bit as that is needed for proper digestion and synthesis of Cal and Vit D .
Food wise: you may want to vary his greens the staple green is collards, then add in the others for variety, Kale should only be fed when fed with other greens. The nice thing about collards is they hold good moisture as the leaves are thick..
Big thing would be is get a fecal test done to see if he has a load of parasites that are causing him to be lethargic and un-well. Parasites can mimic brumation signs.
Hope that helps
