Hi. My beardie is a very messy person and is care free....... the thing is, I have to bath him every week but he HATES water. And please don't tell me it's natural because this have been happening every time for about 8 month. He now freaks out and scratch him when he see his 'tub'. when he goes into the water, he would immediately pancake and jump out.. He even figured out how to get out of the human tub....climbing on me and jumping out...... He scratch me all over (his nails are sharp but I can't trim it or anything. he won't let me) and my arms gets red and puffy. it calms down, but it still dig into my skin. How can I get my baby to like water?

P.s: I make sure of his tub size, temparature and stuff. Water: 93 feranhite or less

might not be the water, it could be the fact he has no traction, when you put him in the human tub put a towel on the floor of it so he has something to grab on to instead of freaking out

Spike preferred to just take a shower, it had to do with the constant movement of the water. he would just relax as long as the water didn't fill the tub, his previous owner didnt care for him very well.

it kinda worked! he stayed in the tub longer than usual. he still went crazy and dramatic after 3 minutes, but this is a HUGE improvement!! thanks guys

which suggestions did you try? I am glad something helped just keep it up and hopefully he will learn it's nothing to fear.

I first sprayed him warm water on his legs, back, and tail, then put him in the bath with towel bedding

This is a fantastic tip! My beardie is the opposite and loves water, but I find that putting an artificial aquarium plant and a surface with traction at the bottom of his bath tub does help with his comfort level. Your dragon may benefit from having something to “hold on to” in his bath as well.
