I got a 2 month old bearded dragon about a month ago. When I first got him he allowed me to hold him, and now he hisses at me through the tank and any time I try to pick him up or move him he hisses and sometimes blackbeard’s. He’s shedding currently and I cannot get him out of his enclosure to soak. Any suggestions?

How have you been treating him? Did he squirm when you picked him up? You may have done something to make him dislike you without even knowing it. Is there anything near his enclosure that could be aggravating him? Males, especially young, tend to be very territorial. That being said, (if you haven't already) consider getting a wall background or side cover that can prevent him from seeing his own reflection. My own girl used to fight with her reflection in the glass and it would get her riled up for when I tried to take her out. Also consider the diet he's on. Could he be impacted, and could that be bugging him? Keep watch for any signs of health issues or parasites that could be causing his aggression. Many things could be causing this to happen, so you can either be aware and watch closely for any red flags, or be more direct and try to intervene without making it worse. If you see red flags for health issues then run him over to the vet but be comforting on the way there.

I agree .Do you have an enclosure with doors in front or are you reaching in from above ?In the wild they are preyed upon from birds and things so if he is not use to you you might be startling him.I would have a lot of patients and have a vet that treats exotics have a look at him .
