Welcome to beardie world--- its gonna take some time for him to adjust -- he needs to acclimate to his tank and surroundings- take a fleece blanket or piece of clothing w/ your scent on it place in his hide and he will get used to your smell - try hand feeding him some treat worms so he knows your hand as a kind gesture and that its friendly -- horn worms super worms meal worms silk butter worms are all good worms to use --- but make sure you have the correct lighting in the tank --- NO coils for UVB NO colored bulbs NO heat mats and NO heat rocks --- correct basking temps are a MUST 95-100 taken w/ a digital probe thermometer - if the tank is too hot they will be aggressive --- it may take him a few weeks to a month or so to adjust -- work w/ him --let him get to know you -- they are a docile animal and very loving --- but the correct UVB and correct basking temps are the TWO MOST important thing in the tank -- they control the over all health and behavior of the dragon --- I cannot stress that enough

Your using a T 8 for a UVB? If so it needs to be upgraded to a T 5 ASAP- the T 8's need to be inside the tank w/ a distance of 6-8 inches directly above the basking decor- Your going to need to buy a new fixture 24" Zoo Med or Sunblaster or Arcadia w/ a Reptisun 10.0 T 5 or a Arcadia 12% bulb-- both are good distance inside the tank would be be 12-15 inches directly above the basking decor

Okay for a 120 gallon you need to upgrade the UVB ---- the Zilla Slimline is not a real strong bulb -- the fixture is ok for a smaller tank -- but you need to upgrade the fixture to a 24" that would be half your tank which is fine -- you dont want him hiding from the UVB ---
https://www.petmountain.com/product/zoo-med-reptisun-t5-ho-high-output-terrarium-hood 24"
this will come w/ a 5.0 bulb -- it is similar to what your using now the distance would be the same but you will need to order this bulb
22" https://www.petmountain.com/product/zoo-med-reptisun-t5-ho-100-uvb-high-output-bulbs
You need to drop that UVB to 6-8 inches directly above the basking decor piece -- w/ it being to the top of the tank hes not getting any UVB or not much of any - the 50 watt bulb and distance is wayyyy to far --- the Zilla bulb is not a very good bulb ---
You also need a digital probe hygrometer if you dont have one already --- take the probe place it on the back center wall -- it will give readings for the whole tank --

You can build one just do not make it permanent! If you haft to move it for some reason you won't be able to- I use a 150 watt in my tank as long as the bulb is keeping basking temps your good-- if not add a extra dome w/ a lower wattage basking bulb -- keep track of your temps tho- you can use a regular household bulb NO LEDS for the middle of tank like 40 or 60 watt to keep temps in the 90's

He sure is handsome. When I first got Zontar he was black as night, hissing and whipping his tail at me. (Rescued dragon aged four at the time) I used to use a towel to pick him up, walk him around and speak to him in a low voice. I always kept that habit of picking him up with a towel that had my scent on it. He finally got used to me a week after I got him and up until his final day on earth six years later, he would kiss me every time he was in my arms by licking my cheek or neck. I hope your guy does the same.

For now I made him a platform and I added another uvb bulb to the other side of the enclosure until I can buy the lamp he seems to like it
