Howdy y'all. I do not have a beardie yet. I am in the process of getting my old 75 gallon tank cleaned out and getting supplies on the way to set the tank up. I can't wait to get my new baby and spoil it rotten but it is well worth the wait. I will probably be asking a ton of questions as this will be my first. I am so excited:D

awesome ! welcome - you've come to the right place. there are a lot of great people here with some super information. check out the links below my post for some super good info put together by a couple of our members. everything you always wanted to know ---. Are you getting a baby or adult? 75 gal is kinda big and scary for a baby. ya might wanta think about closing part of it off until he gets bigger - unless you're getting an adult. let us know how we can help - and don't forget to share pics. even of the tank - we can help you get that up and goin, too

I'm going to get a baby. I didn't realize that it would b scared in a big tank right away. That's not a big deal though cuz I also have tarantulas and happen to have an enclosure for a terrestrial that's not in use (actually marketed for reptiles). I know I will have to change some things around but will this work? There is a divider in it that can stay or come out whatever would b best for baby. That is the 75 gal tank right next to it so u can get a size reference.

A critter keeper wouldn't work well. You need to be able to set up UVB and a basking area for your baby, which you can't do with that. Your best bet would be to get a smaller 40 gallon tank and set that up. One of the big box stores, I think it's petsmart, is running the dollar a gallon sale.

I can do some rehousing and wind up with an open 5 gal other than that I will have to somehow partition the 75 off or use an acrylic (which lets uvb pass through way easier than glass) and put the light on a stand. I can also take the top piece off and put a regular screen top on it and clip it on.

Still too small. Even a 20 gallon doesn't last long as quickly as babies grow. If you can't swing a 40 gallon, your baby may do okay in a properly set up 75 gallon. I'd put black paper in the inside of 3 sides, to make it seem less daunting and large.

Hey and welcome I am also a newbie but learnt a lot over the past few weeks of constant question asking on here! Haha everyone is friendly and full of great info. And on the topic of too big for baby I have a small BD no more than 12 weeks. And he is in a 4ft viv as his is the kit we got sold and I read a lot about this but surely in the wild they have a mass of open area which again would be daunting? However my little guy for the first week did a lot of sitting on a fake cactus in there however he has not started exploring and running around and climbing on all the branches. However I may be wrong but I thought my little guy would be scared and seems to have settled in well.
