New to this forum and dragons. I was given a less than a year old female about 2 weeks ago. She is not fond of being handled. She loves food!! I look forward to learning more on how to get her to tolerate being handled.

welcome. she is probably going through a bit of stress related to her re-location. here's some tips: wear a t-shirt or scarf (no perfumes or scented deodorants please) to pick up your smell. put it in her viv for her to get used to your smell. NEVER try to pick her up from above - slide your hand under her chin to her belly. start slowly - rub her beard. for like 5 seconds. when she's good with that - rub her beard (in the direction of the scales only please) for a bit longer. when she's good with that, slide 2 fingers under her beard to her chest. dont pick her up. do that for several days. then down to her belly. then pick up her - for 5 seconds but dont take her out of her tank. several days. then pick her up for a bit longer. for several days. then pick her up and take her out of her tank for 5 seconds - and so forth. you can also try hand feeding her. its a start

I agree with Canicke it just takes a bit of time for them to get used to their new environment and new owner... patience on your end will end with a beautiful trust between you and your gal...
