Hello everyone, I'm also new to this forum. (Possibly posting in wrong spot, still trying to figure things out!) Lol. This is my bearded dragon Zeus. Zeus has been kind of skiddish lately, we are not entirely sure why. He will start frantically running around his tank he will try to hide under stuff. And I just need to know if this is him still being young and just messing around or if I need to worry about something. Anything will help! Thanks!

Moved this to it's own thread for you, welcome to the forum! When you want to start a new thread just pick the forum topic you want and in the upper right corner there will be a button for you to post new thread.

How long have you had Zeus? Little ones see everything as predators and new sites and sounds are going to scare them a bit. When you pick him up you should always try to scoop one hand under him from the front while gently supporting his legs and tail with the other hand. Avoid reaching over him or putting your hand over his head. They have a 3rd eye on top of their head that allows the to detect light and shadows. In the wild if a bird was overhead trying to get them, they would be able to sense that with the 3rd eye. This "eye" is also why you shouldn't use a red light at night to keep them warm because they can see the light and it can disrupt their sleep cycle.

Also make sure you have actual hides for him to hide in and feel safe.

Is this Zeus in the 2nd picture? He's a lot bigger than he looks in the first one!

We have had him since June of 2014. And he has been such a great pet. Have not had any problems out of him at all, very spoiled lol. And he only started doing this yesterday. Today has been much better though. We just have no idea why it is suddenly happening.

Is he digging in the tank or just running around and hiding?

Digging too. Which I know they do sometimes just to 'play' but is this the same thing?

Are you sure he's a he and not a she? Females will dig and burrow when they are ready to lay eggs. They can lay eggs even if there is no male present.

I have a male that is 1 year old and he likes to run around his tank like a maniac all the time but he doesn't dig. He just doesn't like being locked up.

Two bumps are males right?
I believe he is a male. He has other male qualities lol
And that's the way zeus is normally. But we were just worried the past two days.
He actually has been acting completely normal since I've been on here. So that's good!

We had moved his hammock yesterday (his favorite place) so I almost wondered if that was it. But I couldn't believe it had that much of an effect

Yes it is. I didn't realize that happened I was asleep. However zeus_the_nogard is by boyfriend and I just read that in his post. You think he was hurt or shaken up from that? Because like I said he seems normal now

LOL! I thought it was the same one. It's possible he got shaken up. They are so weird sometimes and so sensitive. As long as he's acting normal now he's probably going to be okay. My boy got spooked by something on the porch last weekend and was totally freaked out for 2 days. Didn't want me to pick him up, looked very mistrustful of us.
