I am new here, and fairly new to the wonderful world of Bearded Dragons. I am in Florida, and there is a thriving beardie community in my region, and the enthusiasm is fairly contagious. I am weighing the pros and cons of getting my first pet beardie, however have a three year old and am a little worried how the two may interact. Regardless, wonderful to meet you all...

Hi lovely too meet you. My names Penny and i have 2 bearsie Diego and Boris. They really r a great pet for kids aswel. Im from the uk n i have a 3 n a 5 yr old. And my beardiea luv them. Im always with the kids when they out but they best of friends if the kids sit dwn they will happily cum over to them so id say they like them

I think if the kids see you handle the beardies on a regular basis, they will learn not to be afraid of them. My boyfriend has a 3 year old niece that only comes over a few times a year and she is a little afraid of Dexter. Yet she always wants me to take Dexter out of the tank and sit her down on the floor in front of her. Last time we saw her we made a bit of progress, she touched the tip of Dexters tail

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Looks like all of your children really enjoy your bearded dragons. Our daughter is really good with out two chihuahuas, and I believe she would be fine with the dragon. I think we will likely start searching for our first bearded dragon pet.
