Hey everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself as Im new to the group. Ive been keeping various reptiles and amphibians for more than 20 years now, and have loved every minute of it. Presently I have my bearded dragon, a savannah monitor (with a few house geckos running around her enclosure), a Leachianus giant gecko, 2 checkered garters, a green tree python, a California king snake, a ball python and a few fire bellied toads. I also keep a lot of plants in the same room to give it that nice tropical jungle feel. I believe wholeheartedly in natural enclosures, so keep all my animals on bioactive soils, with as many live plants and invertebrates inside as I can keep alive. Please feel free to ask me any questions about them!

Oh and here is Xerxes…

Well I've already benefitted from your knowledge on another thread but I will still greet you with a hearty welcome! I'd love to see more pictures of your setups- especially what you've got as far as arboreal set ups like the one you'd have for your green tree python. I'm a snake person just branching out into lizards. Also been into herps for 20+ years but since I'm back into apartment living I'm limited in how much I can have.

Ya, I hear you about the limited space! All mine are in a single room, so it becomes difficult to space it out properly sometimes. Ill be honest, my GTP enclosure is the one that needs the most work right now. I am hoping this summer to move the monitor into a bigger enclosure and then move the BP into her old one, and then the GTP into the old BP enclosure, but adapt it to have a higher top for more height. I love making new enclosures, its almost as fun as the animals themselves sometimes. Here is the GTP enclosure though…for now.

It's beautfiul and I have to admit that I also wanted to see your GTP:) If I had a house I'd have a bigger collection and would get into "dirtier" set ups with natural planted vivs. Animal-wise I had a great childhood in a good sized house near a stream. Dad was a biology teacher so there was never a lack of tanks around and both my parents were fine with dirt, worms and insects. Now it is a bit overwhelming to fit even two 40 g breeders in my place. I'm impressed that you do it all in such a small space. I think a lot of people just resort to rack and tub systems when vivs like yours are far more enjoyable for both us and the inhabitants. Definately keep posting pics as you do your upgrades!

Here's the Cali king. Quite the little handful, as he is a bitey one. Talk about a feeding response though!
