Heating question

Hello, I am fairly new to bearded dragon community and have a question regarding heat. I know the basking area needs to be around 110 degrees. Will a heat lamp reach these temps on its own? Or is supplemental heating normally needed like a ceramic heater? I have a 40 gallon tank but when only using the 100w light it only reached about 100 degrees in the basking area. Thanks

Is the 100 ambient or surface basking temps? How are you getting that temp?

100-102 surface temp coming from the basking bulb
How are you getting that surface temp? Digital probe thermometer is the most accurate - stick ons only give ambient

Ok so a stick on on the hot side will give you ambient temp- you want your surface basking temps 95-100 for dragons over 6 months
