So I just got my first dragon (Jabberwoky) yesterday, the cage a day before and I just can't seem to get it heated right and now Jabber's not eating. The first night he went through ten crickets and five meal worms, but the entire day today he hasn't eaten anything. From what I've read it seems to be the heat, basking area tops out at about 85 fahrenheit.

I've got a 40 gallon tank, 160 wat Mercury vapor bulb directly over the basking area, about 8 inches over it, and a 100 watt basking bulb as close as I could, about 8 inches away.

85 is too low for a basking spot. Aim for 100. You can settle with 95 if his appetite and poo are normal

Your heat have to be higher, if he is a baby it should be 100-105 in the basking area. You might want to get a 150 watt bulb. If the heating isn’t right he won’t have an appetite. Also what king of UVB bulb are you using it is a T5 or T8 tube light or a coil bulb?
