I am considering getting a Chameleon and have done a lot of research. Ive only ever owned bearded dragons but I'm thinking i want try something new. Has anyone here ever had one? And can you give me sort of a compare/contrast between the two reptiles?
Thanks for any input!

I have not however PatsyB one of the mods here has a veiled cham Bumbles so she I'm sure will chime in to help you..
I do know that most Chams don't want to be handled and can be fiesty and cranky lol Also chams can be kinda fragile and need pretty specific environmental musts.. **but so do beardies**
Beardies are more docile and enjoy being handled and are hardier than chams.

I have one. I really wouldn't recommend getting one. I love having mine but honestly it's nothing like having my dragon. They require a lot of care. They do not enjoy being handled at all. They get stressed out easily. Mine has recently gotten pretty sick, thank god I'm good friends with my vet. Don't get me wrong, I do love my chameleon but I wouldn't get another one.

I love my Seymore and won't ever rehome him but I would never get another one. My dragon looks happy at times Seymore seems stressed and on guard most of the time. He doesn't want interaction. He let's me clean his house but that's it. It makes me sad and like I wish he was in the wild being happy. Others have social ones like bumble . If you do get one I'd handle him straight away. I feel like that's what I did wrong. People told me not to handle him because our skin isn't good for them. So I didnt. I should have I wish I could go back and do that different. I do love him very much . Night and day difference from a dragon. Dragons are legit like a puppy. We tuck them in at night and they WANT to be with us. Chameleons put up with us.

There's a tad of heartbreak that comes with Seymore. Hef my dragon makes rainbows and giggles and all things happy. He's therapy.

I was able to get a pic of Hef and Seymore when Hef was doing his rounds. He loves to sit on the vibrating fish pump between Seymore and lady fish .

Veiled chameleons are more of a decorative center piece. They are very on guard all the time and don't really like to be held much (and really shouldn't). There are other breeds of chameleons that may be more hands on but more care goes into them. I held a very sweet and gentle panther at a show once and she didn't want me to put her back in her cage.

I would love to have a good connection with Seymore. Even just one time. It's a different love with that guy.
