Hey everyone I was just wondering what a good time would be to start handling my baby would be. Not to just dive right in or what. Lol don't wanna overwhelm or stress anyone out!
If you've just gotten them give them a few days to adjust to their new home and surroundings... Then I would start by just seeing how they react to you, your hand, voice.... If they show signs of distress, flaring their beard, opening their mouth... just ease up. Usually they are really friendly and like to be held. Keep a close eye on them and be careful if they are very young they move quickly and could hurt themselves if they fall to the ground.. I would keep it to 15-30 min until you get a feel for eachother.
love pictures!!
Okay makes sense. Thank you so muchh! Don't have he or she yet still working on getting everything together. Will def put up lots of pictures!! [emoji13]
Here some tips let her get use to her surrounding 3-5 days or less try hand feeding don't hold her or put your hand above them make sure you do it on there side that way you can pet her note don't grab her just pet then after that put your hand under her belly and gently take her up to you slowly don't spook her/he
Yes don't come from over the head as their 3rd eye that detects objects like predators will only spook them.. Always come from the side and talk to them so they know that your there...
it depends on the breeder, really. My lizard, who was 1 or 2 months old when i got him, was really open to handling after 1 or 2 days getting used to his new home and loved to crawl around on my hands and arms, sometimes even snuggle up under my collar as soon as i got him. If he isnt threatened by you and seems to enjoy your presence, youre golden. But if he is threatened and scared by you, get him used to you by being around his cage often and try to handle him, but not too forcefully. Handfeeding is a great way to bond.
