I placed an order for Superworms, wax worms, Phoenix worms and butterworms over the weekend and they were shipped via USPS. The box had stickers saying "Hold at Post Office for pick up." and "Live Animals" on all sides. You can guess where this is going. I found the box on the front porch mid-afternoon (97 degrees).

About a third of the Superworms were already gone, and I'm sure more will be dead by tomorrow. Almost all of the rest of the worms were jelly blobs. I guess common sense has gone the way of the Dodo birds.

Call your post office and file a complaint!!

I had to file a complaint against my mailman cuz he was throwing my packages up 3 flights of stairs to the landing cuz he didn't feel like walking up the stairs!

After I filed the complaint the supervisor called me and talked with me. My problem was different than yours but they need to know that this happened. What if it was a live dragon or other animal in the box!

Sorry to hear this! Can you also call the company you ordered them from??

I'll be going to the PO in the morning for sure. Of course, it won't do any good since no one is ever held accountable any more. I'll also let the company know, but they did what they were supposed to.

Oh that really sucks!! for sure talk to both as that is crap! Makes me love being in our small town even more as when they see my name on a box that says live they call me
Most likely the company will resend a shipment it wasn't your fault either..

Well, I was right. To paraphrase the Postmaster: "Yup, my people messed up bad, but there's nothing you can do about it."

I used the situation to educate them about the consequences of leaving live animals to suffer like that. I asked them what would happen if I left a dog or cat to suffer or die like that. Of course they said I might be arrested for cruelty to animals. Exactly! I responded that if that had been a one of a kind $500 reptile they also might have been charged.

BTW - Rainbow Mealworms offered to make good on the order. They have given me nothing but excellent customer service.

I am so very sorry to hear that they did nothing!! That's our government for you!

I will have to check out Rainbow Mealworms now, they sounds like an amazing place! Thanks for the tip!

I'm glad you let them know, they usually do make good on stuff like that. Plus as a business they need to know that even though they marked it hold for pickup that they didn't hold it. They should be able to file a claim against the post office.

This weather blows as far as bugs go. I am dying to order some good bugs for the kids but it's been so hot I can't risk it.

Rainbow's replacement order arrived in perfect condition at the Fedex pick up location today. They gave me the finest in customer service.
