Ground walnuts

I have a 5-6 month old beardie. We had reptile carpet in her 40 gallon tank at first but we saw some ground walnut shells for sand at a petstore. It feels almost softer than sand. What is your opinion on that for our beardie? She has been in awhile now and we have a separate spot for her food that is away from the sand. She seems to be doing good but I obviously don't want to accidently harm her. Just recently found out that some people think sand in general is bad for them.

I tried the ground walnut for about 3 days and hated it. It kept getting on my beardies eyes, was rather dusty, and an impaction risk. It's also impossible to clean, which makes it a breeding ground for bacteria. I'd stick to something easy to keep clean. Repticarpet if you don't mind washing them frequently, some people really like tile, and I switched over to fatigue mat. It's cushioned and easy to sanitize.

please - do not use the ground walnut. as eavlynn said - it gets it their eyes, hard to clean. and - they can injest it with their food or just tasting whats there. can lead to impaction. impaction is not a good thing. repticarpet, tile, mats, newspaper etc please

Yep I agree with the above just not worth the risk, tile is easy clean up and good on nails.. loose substrate just too many problems...
