Good thermometer

Any recommendations for a good thermometer?I need two one for the basking side and one for the cool side

The best thing to use to measure your temps would be a IR temp gun you can get them on amazon, or tractor supply stores, or even auto stores. In the link below several of our comments we have put together info for new comers full of helpful info and items needed. Hope that helps

Thanks Hdrydr31,I got an Ir thermometer from home depot. I just wan't to have a couple probe types for both sides of the tank.

I've found that sometimes those probes are not the best..

That's why I got the got the IR one to see how close they are to accurate.The ones I ordered are not very expensive,so if they are consistent they probably will be fine,it not I'll have the Ir one.

I have digital probe thermometers I think they are made by Zoomed. I find that that temp gun is the easiest because I don't have probe wires running all around the tank. Mine always liked to pull them out of the basking spot. I do have both though, just because I'm too lazy to take the probes out and I'm 5 feet tall and can't reach the top of my highest tank to pull it out LOL!

I just checked and it the probe was about 5 degrees cooler than the temp gun.

That's a good bit of difference.

I'm going to test it in my frog tank and see what the difference is there. The battery is a bit newer in that one.

As long as the difference remains consistent it should be alright,I think.
