A good way of thinking about it is right now as babies they are doing the most growing and that makes it very important that he is getting all the nutrients that he needs to be healthy..
This little one has been put in your care. He will grow quickly enough. You know - they do need to eat often, and then there's the necessary heat and light. It wont be long before you can leave for a few days - my neighbor comes over and gives both of my adults their greens while i am away. she CANT do the bugs - i dont ask her to. She doesnt love on em like i do, but i know she cares. Enjoy your time with your baby !!
You might be able to find a vet with the ability to dragon-sit at their office. I found a beardie loving vet tech that takes care of Falkor bond my three dogs at a very reasonable rate.
Now I have two days that I'm able to feed my Beardie with live feeders. I fill the bowls with BSFL (Black Soldier Fly Larvae; Phoenix Worms). Just enough BSFL for 1 very large meal.
I leave a water dish and his light are on timers of course. Place on cool side of the cage and works great for a few days.
I'm currently housing my 4 month old beardie in a 36x18x18 cage and waiting on a 48x30x18 "Bearded Dragon" cage from Animal Plastics. Very long lead time from AP. 3 months for a custom build.
When he's older it's perfectly fine to leave him for a few days by himself. I don't have anyone to take care of mine and the first summer we had Dexter, I let my boyfriend go on vacation with his family so I could stay home with her (we told them I had to work, LOL!). Now that they are all older the longest we can be away from them is 2 full days. I feed them real good before I leave and give baths. I then leave a large leafy salad in their tanks. No veggies that will get rock hard when they dry out. I will also leave a clean glass bowl with super worms in case they get hungry, super worms can't climb glass. Then when I get home the first thing we do is clean the tanks and feed them if it's not too late and give snuggles.
