GNT?

Loki is 4 years old. Last week she stopped eating, became lethargic, and threw up. We took her to the vet and they did blood work and said the issue looked neurological. Once the blood work came back she had high blood sugar (in the 300s which is high but not off the charts in the 1000s). The vet believes she has GNT. They gave us critical care to feed her. She mostly keeps it down but has thrown up some. It is hard to say if she is getting any better. Yesterday per my husband she moved around some. Today with me she has been lifting her head sticking out her tongue but not really wanting to leave the basking side of her habitat or the sunny spot on the porch. She is fighting the critical care when we feed her where in the beginning she had almost no reaction, which we think is a good sign? Thoughts? Are we prolonging the inevitable or is it possible the high blood sugar had another cause? (She loves blueberries but we only feed a few per week).

Please cut the blueberries out for now -- please post the blood work so Tracie can see it -- she is the vet tech on here and can give you some advice as well -- lets go over the UVB your using and where it is placed for the tank - surface basking temps how are you taking them and what are they? The outside time is good and it sounds like she is needing UVB - especially if shes sitting in the sunny spot on the porch-

We have cut out all fruit. Today was the first time eating anything other than critical care for the past week. Today she ate her greens and a few grubs happily.

I do not have access to the blood work at this time. I do know the only variables out of line were that her calcium was a touch low - 6.1 when they want to see a minimum of 6.5 and the blood sugar was 320.

Her basking spot, which we temp with a laser temperature probe, is between 95-110 depending on where along the log she is sitting. She as lays under her basking log a lot on her hammock and that is between 90-97. Her UV is a

Zoo Med ReptiSun 10.0 HO T5 UVB Lamp, 22" L, 24 Watts

Which is mount inside her habitat and is changed every 6 months. She also spends a lot of time on the screened in porch sunning herself.

She is doing so much better which just seems odd if it was GNT.

It would be good if you could post the lab work done- Tracie could go over it and give you some recommendations - I would call the vets office and have them email it to you - you paid for it so they should have no problems getting it to you- your UVB should be directly over the basking decor 12-15 inches - - please invest in 2 digital probe thermometers - IR guns are good but cannot read off of hammocks so you might want to find out what that temp is on the hammock since shes laying under it

Hello,

That's great to hear she is doing a lot better right now. Do you happen to have a copy of the blood tests
you could post for me please? The vet should be able to provide it if you ask! You did pay for it.
If she has a low calcium which 6mg/dl is, I would highly recommend getting her on a liquid calcium for a
faster absorption of calcium into her system.
So she does get full sunshine most days, along with the Reptisun 10 T5 tube in her tank?
Has she ever laid eggs before?
She hasn't thrown up since the day you got her to the vet then?
The high glucose of 320 is not all that bad, just a tad high. It isn't looking like it is GNT though. The fruit
could easily have cause the blood sugar spike.

Let us know how she is doing!

She is doing much better. Back to eating a regular diet but no fruit. Attached is her blood work. She gets full sunshine many days plus the tube in her tank. She threw up for a couple of days but none for a while now. Nevet laid eggs.
