My baby bearded dragon has been glass surfing a lot. He has a 20 gallon tank. Which is ok for his size. He is only a month old and he is 4 and a half inches. Someone told me they want out and wants attention. I get him out 3 times a day for about 15 minutes or so. Can someone tell me why he’s doing this? I got him 3 weeks ago and he loves me so he isn’t scared of me

I’ve noticed that my beardies will glass surf for multiple reasons. Sometimes they become stressed out because they can see other animals through the glass, or they can somehow see their reflection. I put towels over the sides of my tank so Lucky can’t see my other critters. Also your tank temps might be too high. Also them simply wanting out is also a reason mine will surf!!

I also notice my baby will sometimes surf a bit when it's close to feeding time . . . almost as if to say, "Mom, I'm hungry." He stops as soon as he eats. He also doesn't like change much so when I had to lift his few rocks to get that last cricket/roach he didn't want he'd scurry to the back corner of his tank and stand up against the glass there for a bit. Not exactly surfing, but letting me know he's wasn't happy. Now that the cracks beneath his rocks are filled so I don't have to move them, he doesn't do this much anymore.
