Hi purchase a 2 year old female dragon on Monday night. Since bringing her home. She has stayed under shelf and not came out to bask under light. Does she just need some time to settle. She has eating a little rocket hand fed and a couple of hoppers. Should I bring her out and place in baskin spot or should I leave her alone ?

Sometimes when dragons are relocated; or first brought home; they need some time to re-acclimate.

I would give her some time to herself to get used to her new home; always provide veggies, and bugs; (Dubias if possible since they wont bite) and see what she does.

Make sure your temps are correct; and UVB is set correctly.

Looks like shes hiding; I'd give her a day or two to get used to her home; if shes still not coming out; take her for a bath. 95ish degress F.

Temps look good; had to use a converter; I am stuck in USA F mode and my math is crap hahaha......

A couple of observations;

Is that calci sand? if so it is not good for them; if it's child play sand then feeding her up on that platform should be no problem.(out of the sand) to avoid compaction.

investing in a hammock would be nice to give her something to climb up higher.

A question:
Could we see a pic of the lighting set up?

A Suggestion:

Put another hide in on the other side; if shes nervous giving her somewhere else to go to would be good.

Looks great!

good idea with changing the sand to tile; it'll be much safer for her.

Just a bit of info; Beardies cannot sense heat from their bottoms very well; and a heat mat is not necessary. All their thermo regulation comes from up top.

Also the water (looks like running fountain;) may increase humidity too much; just keep an eye on that;

I personally use a scientific bottle and spray the top of my guys head and he drinks it up as it goes down past his mouth.

Just a suggestion;

I just wanted to say I love the theme/set up you have going in there. I want some plant/vine type things for my guys enclosure but they're crazy expensive.

No worries, with a little more time she'll come out of her shell more and more.

Glad to hear shes out sunning herself.

You have a nice setup and are doing things right; it's up to her now.

What foods are you feeding her? Bugs & veggies?

I'd recommend if you can get a hold of them; Dubia Roaches. They are much better for dragons nutrition wise; than grass hoppers.

What veggies do you offer her?

Feed her rocket previous owners said that's only leaf she will eat. She doesn't like crickets and has had hoppers all her life. I got her roaches and she ate a few yesterday. Really seemed to enjoy them. So I will give her hoppers and roaches and the odd mealworm. Do I offer her rocket every day sprayed with water ?

I've removed the sand and replaced with upside down bathroom tiles. Just used a we bit sand to fill in the gaps. Not as nice to look at but I won't risk impaction. Will get slate roof tiles in future.

Also removed heatmat. Putting bowl of water in at night incase she wants to lye in it. Should I do this or not ?

Thanks again for help I appreciate use can teach me in minutes which maybe took use or the people who taught use any amount of time to learn. I appreciate ur research and experience.

Cheers.

I would advise you to not leave the water dish in overnight.. They sleep super hard and I would hate for your dragon to aspirate water and get sick.
