Hi everyone! I just want to introduce myself. My name is Kayla. I've wanted a bearded dragon since I was 10, and finally got one, almost 13 years later. I have done years of research and practicing with the beardie at work (I work at a local mom and pop pet store).

This one was actually surrendered to the store and I couldn't help myself. I know nothing of his background, his age, his morph, or whether it's a male or female! I believe male and I have named him Atlas.

Based off my research, I believe he is about 4-6 months old. He is 12", and is missing the tip of his tail. He also weighs 108g.

His favorite food is peas and carrots so far.

His take is a 40g breeder with repticarpet for now, will be switching to slate tile after Christmas. He has a 10.0 sunglo uvb bulb, as well as a 60w daylight bulb for viewing. The basking spot is 110*F, the hot side is 94-95*F and the cool side is 84-85*F.

Welcome to the forum!! Congratulations on your new addition! Atlas is very good looking! What a beard he has :)
The cool side can go down a bit more as they usually sleep in caves the temps can go down to 65F What else are you feeding him bug wise?

I turned down the heat and it it now at room temp which is 72-74*F.

He gets Crickets, mealworms, and super worms. Not all at once. I like the variety. I am trying to find Phoenix worms and hornworms as well. I have leopard geckos that eat all that as well, it's just a matter of finding some that don't cost an arm and leg to ship.

He also gets kale, chickpeas, green beans, turnip greens, romaine lettuce, Apple, banana, and strawberry. I also have spring salad mix. Again, not all at once. The banana and strawberry are used more as treats.

He got quite angry at my lime green phone in his face during our outdoor photoshoot. But it was such an awesome pictures. He hasn't gotten that worked up since then. And it's been about a week.

Be careful with mealworms as their shell contains alot of chitlin which is super hard for them to digest.. supers are better. I would forgo the romaine well any lettuce really as they are just water and can cause runny poop. collard greens are really good.

I am only using the remaining mealworms I have. My geckos outgrew them and I have 500 left. I figured I could just split them between the four reptiles. But noted.

I thought romaine lettuce was okay, that it was the iceberg that wasn't? Oh well. I'll just throw that in my boyfriends salad tomorrow.

I never thought about him seeing his reflection, but that makes sense.
BDs are so much different than Leos. Atlas has a very spunky attitude.
And the whole awake during the day. All my reptiles, lizards and snakes, have always been nocturnal. I love having one to interact with during the day. And to sunbathe outside with.

Nice to meet you! We have our first bearded dragon as well, but she is much smaller than Atlas! Now I know she is nowhere near 6 months old! I love how defined his scales are. Definitely one handsome guy!

I love how each of his scales go from bright orange to yellow. He looks like he's made of fire, especially with his blue bars.

Yea I really like the awake part as well :) I don't have any other lizards etc but I think something that slept all day would bore me lol

We got leopard geckos before we started with beardies because we thought they would be easier. They were real cute but they were boring since they were awake at night. I remember one night, one of them started to shed when the light went out at 9pm. I really wanted to see how it all happened so I stayed up most of the night just to watch it LOL! It was cool but I was so tired!

Yeah. I do love my Leos though. I'm going to start breeding them this upcoming year. But I really enjoy my time with atlas.
