I finally saw Izzy eating her greens!!! big ol mouthfulls of her mustard greens and various veggies!! I was soo excited.
She also just finished her shed this am that might have something to do with her veracious eating today.. Gave her a soak to help her out (she had big pieces just hanging on her back this am) And her cranky attitude earlier when I was putting a hip leash on her to get her outside for alittle...I might have pinched her? but she nipped my finger :) kinda took me by surprise at the mark she left...sorry Izzy I'll slow down

Very pleased with how she is growing she is 48 grams :)

Have I mentioned I just love my little dragon?? lol

It's possible you pinched her. She could also just not have liked the fact you were putting it on her. I have some real squirmy dragons when I'm trying to put their harnesses on them.

Yea she may not have liked it as it's new to her only have had it on a handful of times.. I want to do a different way of harness mine is just a slip knot as she doesn't fit in any harnesses yet. What type do you use? She's pretty squirmy too lol I think the combo of everything she wasn't in the mood and she let me know lol got a nice diamond shape bite mark on the top of my knuckle lol silly dragon that didn't feel too great yes you have itty bitty teeth but those dang things are sharp.. haha naughty little dragon

This is what I use. I bought it from one of the members here, she has an Etsy store her name is walkingwithdragons it was like $5. Luci didn't like it at first and refused to walk on it but when he realized he was going on an adventure he was fine! This is Dexter at Petco.

I brought her in and talked to the girl at the register then went shopping. I heard her in the next aisle telling someone "the lady came in with her bearded dragon and she is in the cart!" It was so funny.

I think there are Youtube videos on how to make these with a shoelace. I'm too lazy and just bought them LOL!

I think this might show it better, this is Luci.View attachment 13164

can you show me a picture of the belly side? Is it loops just for the arms? I've made one but mine only goes around kinda under in her armpits... Your's looks like it goes under his chin and behind his arms...

I'll post tomorrow when they wake up but yeah, there is two loops, one goes in front of the arms under the chin and the other goes behind the arms then there is a bead in the middle that makes it all snug.

Many thanks to your reluctant model :)
That makes way more sense now... it's a double loop...Going to try that it may be easier/quicker to put on.....
Thank you very much!!

You're welcome. I think she was upset that we didn't go anywhere after I put the leash on!

Izzy is currently unaware of what will be tried on tomorrow :) she is sound asleep on my chest in her sash... Gotta make another run into town tomorrow as I just discovered that her not even a month old under tank heater is not working anymore!!! glad I have the receipt...

Oh and did she devour her greens this am!! And I found a local store in town today that has amazingly fresh mustard greens!!!

UTH aren't really necessary and actually could do harm. They don't sense heat on their body so they could easily sit on something hot and get burned and not even realize it :( When it starts getting cold here I start playing with the wattage of their bulbs and put a higher wattage in to keep temps up. Sometimes if it gets real cold at night, I will even wrap them in a blanket while they are still warm.

So glad you found a store in town! I always think "How would I care for my dragons if I had to move in with my mom and dad", I still have no idea what I would do LOL! I'd have to grow and indoor garden or something.

Yea I did know about the lack of ability to sense heat, I have mats down and I keep an eye on her and what she does... I do play with the bulbs to figure out what works best... Winter is going to be interesting being her first one... Fortunately for her I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteo Arthritis, Fibro to name a few so we keep our house in the mid 70's and the room she's in is really easy to level out.

Where are you located? and your parents are where? I have to travel about half hour to get those greens..

Izzy is growing nicely I'm soo happy she's up to 61 grams!! love watching her chow down on the greens then pig out on roaches! lol

I will keep the UTH usage in mind don't want her to get hurt, I'm here all day and she's mostly up on her perch basking.. or she's on her cold side sleeping.. or eating

I'm in Chicago and my parents are in Wautoma, WI. We can easily get most of our greens and bugs but up their it wouldn't be so easy.

Winters are always fun with trying to keep the dragons warm. We keep our house in the mid 70's also because we like it warm and we want all our critters to be warm. I have a heated throw blanket that Dexter and my cat actually share when I let Dexter out of the tank they are so funny together.

Good to hear Izzy is growing so fast! I love how fast baby beardies grow!
