so Ill start out with the question... so being new at this, I felt that I had researched quite a bit about the animals and figured out everything I needed to know to start this, now im realizing i probably should have looked into skin issues... My 4 month old dragon has a spot that the lady I bought him from said was just the last of him shedding... ive had him, well i guess for only 4 days, but it doesnt seem to be changing... its flaky and dry although it doesnt seem to bother him much. I gave him a bath yesterday which seemed to help a little, as some of it came off and the spot looks a little better... I guess im just curious if anyones dealt with this before if theres anything I can do to help him in the case that it IS just shedding... or if I should just make a vet appt. granted ill probably do that anyway as hes new and should be checked over.
Heres a pic of the spot

Kinda hard to tell but to me kinda looks like scar tissue from a bad shed or a burn.

It does look like a burn. Do you know how big the previous enclosure was & was the dragon able 2 get close 2 the basking light?

I saw pictures of the enclosure, online, in her ad a few weeks before i saw it in person and it was the same enclosure/setup both times, there was no way he got that close to it. I had to buy a new basking spot/log because he actually wasnt even close enough to get up to the proper temperature to bask in. :/ the woman said she had had him for only 3 months, and bought the 40gal enclosure 3 months ago, so i would assume it was the same one. but of course who knows, she did have two very little (2-5 y/o) boys as well, so that I can not account for. but I would agree that it does look like a burn, Ill try to get a better pic of it, but thats mainly why I was asking, because from what I can see it doesnt look quite like his regular "pattern" continues in that area... hmm.

wow, I took some close up pictures of the spot, and because of the pictures i think it is a burn! it looks so much worse in these close ups! :((

I noticed that it looked like his last few spikes were not there but I usually cant see more than the top of him... :/ oh now i feel so bad.

ya i don't think its a infection then had to be scar tissue from a burn or perhaps a old infection. I wouldn't worry to much about it the only thing i foresee is perhaps issues when it comes to shedding you might have to assist him in that area

Definitely start treating the area with an antibiotic ointment. I'm not sure what the original source of wound was but in all the other pics I see a happy, healthy & alert dragon.
