So my friend that has bearded dragons pointed this out, any help would be appreciated. His tail has quite a bit of stuck shed, not sure how long it's been there, also his glands are clogged underneath his back legs. What do I do?

Usually stuck shed has to be soaked in order for it to come off, same thing with the glands, soak em in warm water and squeeze em like a pimple, I advise you to wear gloves and eye protection lol.

Is it that simple? I was worried I'd have to take him to the vet!

Its a pretty easy fix, unless you physically cant do the job, Only thing a exotic vet can really do for lizard owners is diagnose, give meds and surgery, i dont have a good opinion of exotic vets if you want to put a Olive oil on the stuck skin that’d help too.

For the pores being clogged, you may have to break the hard “head” of it before anything comes out, for male bearded dragons, it’s recommended you scrub their back thighs so pore build up doesn’t happen , (although my dragon is female she has HUGE pores) and ive scrubed them for the past almost 2 years and ive never had an issue.

Would you recommend soaking for a few days first? Also, how much of an emergency is this? Could I soak him for a week to make it easier to come out? On top of that I'd like him to trust me a bit more before holding him the way I'd need to be able to do the job

Can u picture it if possible, it may not even be that bad, Im of the opinion only in certain situations should u bathe him daily (and if you do it every day try to get cleaner water other than sink) hes gonna hate you regardless, the pore squeezing will hurt a little but he’ll feel relieved after and in a better mood, as for the skin he’ll appreciate once its over but may even fight you, or the two will be fliped, my dragon hates having her back legs touched but will stay still as i help with shed.

Well I know it'd bad enough, ill attempt a pic later, but u can see the hard part of the waxy substance actually coming out of some of his pores

I left the other one on, untill I put the 10.0 in, wasn't sure the 5.0 would put out enough uvb
keep it as a emergency bulb , 5.0s are for tropical lizards that cant take full exposure and get “dappled” sunlight.

A bath will definitely help. Buy some shed ease too it helps loosen the shed. For the pores there are tutorials on YouTube on how to take care of them. Good luck I hope you can help him

Soak in a bath w/ some betadine solution make it look like a weak tea -- 10- 15 minutes it may take a few soaks but you want the femoral pores soft -- if they are soft you can gently squeeze them the plug should come out -- make sure he has some rough decor to rub against that usually keeps them open - the stuck shed on the tail let it do its thing -- it will eventually come off the bath soaking the pores will help
