Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone can help me determine if my beardie is a female or male? I've attached a picture (I'm new to the site so please let me know if it is not visible). At the time I purchased "her" I was told it was to soon to tell. "She" is now 11inches long so I checked again and I see no bumps to indicate male or female. I have tried the flaslight method and still see nothing. Is it still to early to tell? Also "she" is currently shedding so please excuse the noticeable stress marks, she is miserable atm :(
Thanks for any help in advance!

Have you tried the flashlight method? That is the best and easiest way to check.

Yes. We have actually tried it a few times. I can see completely through her/his tail and private area with the light but see nothing there

I would say Female due to the two bumps at the base of her tail.

Although I was conviced Spyro was a boy until recently, so like always don't take it for definite, although im sure you have a female

That is what we are thinking to. Its funny that yours is named Spyro. When we first got her we were certain she was a he (i don't know why we assumed this) and named "him" Spyro. Now she is Spyra lol

Ha! Yes thats pretty much what it was! Its because the breeder was also sure she was a he, poor spyro is having an identity crisis!

Let us know if you get a definitive answer!

Just by the picture I'm leaning female... Just keep trying the flashlight test and just in case this is how I typically do it.. dark room, flat surface then bring tail back holding close to the base of the tail, the led flashlights I find work the best. Shine on the top very base of the tail where the organs should be.. If that fails then turn light on and bend tail back until it the scales are "tight" and look to see if you can see the 2 oval lumps or just the 1 lump in the middle for female.. You really should be able to see the lumps at this point.

So we are pretty sure it is a girl. We tried the flashlight test again and it looks like one very small "bump" at the tail base. I attached a photo (sorry for the quality it was the best I could get) let me know if any of you guys see anything that may suggest different.
Thanks

Well I don't see hemipenes as they should be showing up... So think you've got a girl :)

Thank you all for your help. Its seems we have a girl! :)
Being a newbie i was keeping my fingers crossed for a male simply because of eggs and all of that later down the road. However, we have done much more research to better prepare ourselves for when/if the time comes. We love our girl and wouldn't trade her for the world :)
Once again thank you all so much
