Female Dragon Doesn't Poop

Our female dragon hardly ever poops. My son has tried warm baths, some dietary changes and several other things to resolve this but nothing works. She has hardly pooped since June. This happened once before but it corrected itself. She eats but not much. She’s mostly vegetarian but will consume 1-5 Dubia roaches every few days. She looks healthy sleeps a lot. We’re concerned and not sure what else to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Can you go over your lighting with us so we can rule that out as a factor? Absolutely NO “coil”/compact uvb bulbs, you need a long tubular uvb bulb, make sure you have a good thermometer, NO stick ons, she shouldn’t be sleeping, how old is the dragon?

I agree w/ Skybug the two MOST IMPORTAMT things in the tank are the basking temps and the UVB --- dragons can go for long periods of not pooping but w/ her eating she should be digesting that food more often -- when she does poop what does it look like -- urate needs to be formed moist and white ---- poop dark formed and moist --- NO chalky dried out looking -- then shes dehydrated which will cause constipation --- start rinsing the greens before serving -------- is he drinking in the bath?

We have a 160 watt Exo-Terra Solar Glo Bulb and we've left her Night time black coil on during the day for extra warmth since she's in a 40 gallon tank. She is between 2 and 4. We got her from a neighbor, so not sure of her exact age, but will check. The floor of the tank is in the high 80s and the basking tree ranges from mid to high 90s to 107 at the very top. Regarding the long tubular UVB bulb you mentioned, do you meant the flat lighting systems that lay on top of the cage? Our bulb is the round bulb that hangs from the black fixture over the cage. We use a infrared thermometer to check the temperature since the stick ons were so unreliable. Is there an in tank thermometer you recommend? Thanks for your comments. Any other info is helpful and much appreciated.

I would get one of the uvb fixtures i posted above (with its respective bulb) “coil”/compact uvb bulbs are not recommended and cause all kinds of problems (not to mention they’re hit or miss with even offering enough of a uv index) , i personally have the zoo med fixture, but the arcadia 12% is good too. Get a thermometer like i posted above, it just needs to be a probe, the uvb will control ur dragons overall health, this is the most important thing.

Thank you. My window was only partially open when I responded, but I did see the images you included after I replied.

Exo-Terra Solar Glo Bulb this is not a very good bulb but it is use able I would recommend you change it out and start over w/ your lighting -if your adamite about the MVB then I would go w/ a Power Sun or Mega Ray --- the difference between the MVB"s and the regular long tube UVB's is the MVB do not put out adequate UVB rays and it is best to have the long tube in the tank as well - you want adequate UVB for the dragon or you end up w/ issues like your having the night time black coil is it a solid coil NO light correct? I would only use that when you have temps dropping below 65 at nite - you do not want that tank over 75 during the nite --and NO lights - your using a coil UVB as well ---- its like a spiral coil looking bulb ---GET RID OF IT!!!!!!!!!! Those are a hazzard for your dragons health --how old is the MVB Solar Glo? they expire in 6 months --- I would change out your UVB to a 24" ZooMed or Sunblaster Nano or a Pro T 5 w/ either the Reptisun 10.0 T 5 or a Arcadia 12% bulb those are the best on the market at this time -- get a bright white basking bulb that keeps temps 95-100 taken w/ a digital probe thermometer --- start w/ a 100 watt go from there just make sure you place the probe on the spor where she sits for basking 10 min get the temp
https://hydrobuilder.com/sunblaster...mp.html?opts=eyJhdHRyaWJ1dGU5MDEiOiI2NjA0In0= 24 " fixture
https://www.pangeareptile.com/store/zoo-med-reptisun-t5-ho-terrarium-hood.html 24" fixture
https://www.pangeareptile.com/store/zoo-med-reptisun-10.0-uvb-t5.html 22" bulb
https://www.pangeareptile.com/store/arcadia-prot5-uvb-kit.html 12% bulb
https://www.pangeareptile.com/store/zoo-med-digital-thermometer.html get 2 one for the basking side and one for the cool side of the tank
Depending on the screen on the tank will depend on where the UVB fixture is placed they can sit on top of the screen but your screen MUST BE a wide hole type screen - fine mesh it has to go inside the tank

Thank you Sadie. Do you have a preference on the fixture, or are they both equal in your experience?
