hi all sorry not to add anything to the forum. anyway, I have been reading articles and other scriptures and YouTube. I am an ex-combat medic in the army. now I am disabled due to my service and waiting for other serious issues to get tested. For a long time now I wanted a bearded dragon but due to family and another issue in my life. now that I am unable to do I got my dragon at the end of October from a rescue and a donation for a bearded dragon. they delivered him and a setup. which saved a lot of money and I have time and commitment. well since I have had him he never eats his greens so i stopped feeding him but put the salad in every day yesterday I gave him his chocolate and I managed to roll some veg so when he was eating the locust I put the rolled leaf and he ate that i have coated the locust with botanical food sprinkler. managed to do one leaf and in lef rocket and a little kale tomorrow I am going to introduce a little more veg this way I know he had 3 leaves this morning so later around 4 pm I'll do it again with one locust with no calcium or food sprinkle. then tomorrow I will do more leaves if I can or might do him a little treat of fruit. just to vary his input. and because it does not move he is not interested he closes his eyes to say nah not for me and constantly find him looking down because he knows. so I also hydrated a little with a syringe of water just sticking his head high and proud. funny good. scooby is now around 19 months old. here are some photos and his habitat I'll be changing it when another substrate comes so ill will be doing clay. I also got Scooby a run he loves it. trying to find bee pollen locally went various pets and reptiles they had none which was unusual for not to have any ended up paying £16.00 botanical food supplement. so I could encourage Scooby to eat some veg so I might do tomorrow just 1 locust and 3 or more veg do it slowly until he accepts it. well in such a short time I have read watched articles and Bearded Dragon books a lot is repetition. he also has 2 baths a week but only one atm due to weather. cannot wait for the summer to get him out.

Hi Tom welcome to the forum-- so glad you rescued the guy -- the most important thing in the tank is surface basking temps and UVB-- can you please tell me what they set up came w/ - your dragon needs fresh salads every day and insects 2-3 times per week - depending on the UVB your using will determine the calcium regiment-

thank you Scooby is my PTSD animal at present i.m unable to get a service dog due to my conditions. at present spend most time reading sometimes you can get lost with what is what. every dragon is unique in their own right. I'm going to have to save up to get another vivarium and get a female but also spare for me to able do work on one tank unless I do a small mixture of clay substrate and heat lamp and hair dryer and get humidify down asap ill take the back wall down and cut it so iam able to build it up. and got a few ideas for how iam going to do this. any ideas about using clay in stages?? help and ideas's more than welcome.. now I have heard about scrambled eggs i tried it no chance closed his eyes to say no thanks. Are there any new bearded dragon owners? how is your dragon and little hard when he came from the rescue centre beardy will take time if u have a rescue little harder to find out what he has been eating. i will do step by step with the clay and any pics with clay setop would be nice for tips.

For actual readings on humidity you need a digital probe hygrometer- placed on the back center wall of the tank - optimal is 40-50% you dont want anything under 20 or over 70% -- please go over the lighting that came w/ the tank

For a 40 + gallon tank you want a T5 and Reptisun brand or a Arcadia 12% 24 watt - depending on the screen it needs to go into the tank - wide hole type it can sit on top but distance 8-10 inches directly above a piece of basking decor - fine mesh it needs to go inside the tank -- 12-15 inches

Ok good -- change the bulb out in approx 10-11 months from install -- and distance should be 12-15 inches directly above a piece of basking decor-
