So I just decreased my bearded dragons cricket intake from 50 to 25. It didn't seem like a major cut but it saves a lot of money and I was told that he really doesn't need to eat 50+ crickets everyday. So I now feed him 25 crickets, 5 super worms, and 5 meal worms along with a salad consisting of collards, different types of squash and cactus. I don't know how old he is I'm guessing around 9 months or so. He's 18inches 215g.
Anyway lately he has been stressed and grumpy until I take him out and hold him for awhile. That is if I can get him out he tries to eat my fingers when I reach into his cage which is not normal of him. Everything has been the same except for the diet change. Any ideas why he's being so grumpy?

Might be hungry. You cut his food intake significantly. Big boy for 9 months! Handsome too. May be hormonal.

I would recommend giving him as many as he will eat in 15 minutes three times a day. He's growing he will eventually slow down. Kind a like a teenage boy right now

my goodness, i cant get my 2 beardies to eat more than 100 large crickets and 50 large superworms a week. they also get cabbage and squash medley and zoomed beardie diet too but still urs nearly eats their weekly intake in a day. am i underfeeding? they are about 5 months old about 12" and 175 grams. they eat until they are satisfied and are alert and active.

@Monkeys563 Like Canicke said, feed whatever they will eat in a 15 min window. He could be hormonal too. My 1 year old boy was shedding last week and wanted to eat all day long. He was eating about 20 supers a day and some night crawlers along with his salad. He's done shedding and I tried to feed him today and he ate 2 supers and 4 small hornworms.

@knowzbleed your's sound like a good size. I would try to feed them what they want in a 15 min window. Also, try to add some more variety to the salad. Cabbage is not a good staple. Get some ideas from www.beautifuldragons.com there is a great nutritional chart there that gives lots of good options.

thx patsy, ill give it a look :) cabbage is not the only greens they get its just what i have atm

I hear ya. I've given mine whatever I've had on hand before. Winter gets hard because some things are not in season. My boy LOVES mustard greens and I haven't been able to find them for 3 weeks now.
