I have a 18 month old beardie. For several months, whenever I feed him, he snaps at the mealworms in the wrong direction. He seems to be having vision problems. He has a 40 gallon tank, clear basking light. Normal substrate. I have flushed his eyes with a eye wash for reptiles, and added vitamin to his food. Is this a common issue, and what could be the cause of it? I can afford the vet, however, the closest one that could treat him is over an hour away. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What uvb are u offering? This is SO important, “compact” “coil” UVBs are Bad for beardies eyes, they offer either too much uvb in a concentrated stream or little to none at all, if u have that type of bulb,….. thats the problem,… beardies are kinda dumb when catching food so it could just be that, can u take a picture of both eyes, if they’re graying over he could be going blind, additionally give him a small amount of carrots (cut thinly) (without the skins) (carrots are fine, itd take a full carrot to give him to much vitamin a)

Are you using any colored bulbs? those are terrible on the eyes and can cause long term eye damage --- coil UVB's as well along w/ other health issues ----
