This is Wally's

This is Lacey's - you have to remember she is only 30 days old. Hatchlings need small spaces. So do babies. Wally is 4 1/2 months old so he can have the bigger space.

I guess my 55 gallon tank is going to be to big for my little guy then. I just got it out of the garage, in storage. My daughters were helping me clean it and everything. They were so excited. I just had him in a medium size rubber maid tote for a few days. I thought bigger is better.

No! They need the smaller size so they aren't scared! They need to know no one is hiding or hunting them. You always want to start off small and work up to a bigger size when they get to be a juvie. Which Wally is almost a juvie.

You could get a piece of cardboard or something to block off part of the tank. Then use the other side for storage for your feeders and supplements.

Babies don't necessarily need to start out in a smaller tank. I started Dexter and Luci out in their 40 gallons and they were about 5 inches when I brought them home. I gave them lots of stuff to climb on and lots of stuff to hide in and they did just fine.

The problem with a 55 gallon is it's narrow so when your's gets bigger your going to need to buy a tank that is wider so they have room to turn around.

I did not know this about the 55 gallon! This is good information to have! Thank you PatsyB!

I just learned it too. The 55 gallon is only like 13 inches deep or something like that. Figure average length is 18-20 inches so that doesn't give any turn around space.

That's crazy, you would think 55 gallon would be massive! Lol

Thank you for explaining this to me. Not that I was going to use one but it's great to know for the future.

I like the hammocks. Looks like that I'll have to get me one of those.

The reptile green one is at every pet store, eBay, online pet store, etc.

The larger more colorful ones, like Wally's Star Wars is on etsy.

Some people have 2 hammocks in their enclosure.

Wally slides onto his hammock when he hits the top of the ladder! He was so lazy tonight that when I was feeding him he was eating on the ladder! He would let the worm and dubia just come to him! Lazy butt!! Lol
