Eating enough?

Hi all. How do I know if my 3 month old (I think?) is eating enough? I don’t weigh him because he doesn’t stay very still whenever we take him out of the tank. Right now I’m feeding him 1/4” dubias twice a day and veggies. Sometimes he’ll eat 10-12 and sometimes only 5 or 6. I try hand feed him the veggies and he’ll take a bite or two. Can I leave the dubias in a bowl for him during the day? I give him about 30 minutes before I take dubias out right now. I leave the veggies out for him all day and I’m not 100% sure if he actually eats it but there are sometimes bits on the ground outside of the bowl. I did get some hornworms for him but they were mostly too big so waiting on a shipment of smaller ones. He really liked those.

Leaving roaches in a bowl is perfectly fine, Crickets are the ones you don’t want to leave in the enclosure they will definitely nibble on him in the night time, id say for a baby 8 a day is a good amount, hes only eating 5 the next day cause hes getting one to many, you want your baby to always be hungry, its okay to feed a couple extra though.

Hornworms are a great feeder btw, really good for hydration.

It was told to me by two different reptile specialists here in Vegas. I haven't tried looking for confirmation online yet though..
Im shure all bugs have some amount of suger in them, just like how we have salt/iron in our bodies, i just never have heard it before.

And im in no way trying to discredit them, but ive seen/been to alot of so called “reptile specialists” and i can tell you from personal experience alot and i mean alot of them dont know alot about lizards, they’re all going off of a book or the internet, which is where most outdated information is, i was at a new reptile shop yesterday here in FL and the guy was claiming to be in the morph business for 20+ years (he had ball pythons, uromastyx’, chameleons, sulcata tortoises, all kinds of stuff) i was proding him for information just to see, hes never heard of coil uvb bulbs being bad for bearded dragons “in his years of experience” and he told me feeding a pinky to my beardie would give her fatty liver Disease (even though people feed them to female bearded dragons after they lay eggs) just dont trust everything you hear , ive had to do alot of fact checking and ill tell ya theres lots of myths about bearded dragons out there...
