Well I just ordered my first batch of Dubia roaches they will arrive Thursday. I also bought 1 lb of food for them. I have never had them so any advise on caring for them and starting a colony would be great. They will be small so it will take a while for them to start producing but I ordered 250 so there should be plenty left when they do get big enough to produce right?

They do best reproduction-wise with a heat source. We have our colony in a plastic Rubbermaid container, with a low wattage heat mat under the container. We feed ours the roach chow and water crystals. Once or twice a week we put orange quencher cubes in there. Ever weekend we clean out the container. If they are small, it will take awhile. Good luck!

We do the same thing with our dubias. They're so easy to keep! They love carrots and orange slices too, just make sure to change them out often so they don't go bad. They need one side to be around 90 to breed and they like dark. They're my favorite staple protein for my dragon since the exoskeleton is soft, their moisture level and nutrient level are high. Good luck!
