The wife and I will be going on a vacation the week after Christmas and have no idea what we're going to do with our Sampson. Anyone living around the south of Houston, TX willing to dragon sit for a week? Our dogs will be with a relative but no way this relative would keep a bearded dragon much less feed it. (why people are scared of worms/roaches I have no idea lol) We're starting to panic......

good for you for planning ahead! I don't remember - how old is Sampson? adults don't NEED protein daily. when I go out of town I have my neighbor check the kids. she sometimes checks them twice a day (even tho I've told her that's not necessary - I think she kinda likes it even tho she wont touch them !) I don't EVEN ask her to feed insects. they get cut up greens and or veggies. and poop cleaned up. (although my female will save her poop for me - she wont poop in her tank!) some pet stores will "sit" - look for a reptile shop. should be able to find sumthin in Houston !

We're not exactly sure how old he is as he was a rescue but the rescue group thought him to be a couple years old. Feeding him salad is quite the chore but he's getting better. Now he only gets a cricket or super worm AFTER he eats some salad. We think he's catching on but he still has his days. Not to sure we want to leave him with someone without some experience.

Thanks for the idea of looking at a local reptile shop. While we definitely won't leave him with a pet store I bet we can find a local reptile dealer that may be able to help.
