Dragon barely eats

We have had our dragon three weeks or so. I can get it to eat something everyday but it eats very little. It is a baby, maybe 5” long including tail. When i give it greens it will take one or two bites and then no more. We have small Dubai’s and I have never got it to eat more than two at one time. I see people posting their dragons eat 20 a day I doubt ours has ate that many since we have owned it. I have tried some worms too and same thing it will gobble one down but doesn’t want any more.

Its cage is 80 degrees on cool side, 90 on warm side, and the basking rock is 105 degrees. We have a T5 reptisun UVB.

Any ideas?

Here is a picture. We got him from a local pet store that deals almost exclusively in reptiles. They have been in business for at least 15 years that I know of.

He seems to run around a lot. During the day he gets up on his basking rock and at night disappears into his hides.

I can take a small piece of kale, mustard greens, etc and hold it in front of him and he quickly takes a bit but then leaves it alone. Does this every day. Will almost always take one bite but hen no more. Same thing with he dubias. Can almost always get him to eat one but then no more.

Is his poop runny, soft, does it smell and what color is it?

Have you tried feeding him any other feeders? Bearded Dragons are known to be picky after all.

Superworms, crickets, silkworms, hornworms. Just see if you can get him to eat more of something else, also switch up his greens diet every here and there too.

Also your basking spot is a little hot for how young your dragon is i'm almost sure of it. I could be wrong on this statement though as i've never owned a baby dragon, just an adult.

I think I know what the problem is, for babies the temperature should be 105-110 degrees. How big is your enclosure and what watt is the bulb you are using, are you using a Tube UVB light or a coil UVB. I will recommend a temp gun if you don’t have one

I think the temp is perfectly fine. Is he basking? And once again? Is his poop, soft, hard, formed, does it stink, and what color is it?

Actually it’s not hot hot enough which could be the reason why he isn’t eating a lot. For babies the temperature should be between 105-110 degrees

Where is the T 5 distance and placement is key here -- basking temps are 105-110 for a baby and taken w/ a digital probe thermometer -- NO stick ons they are inaccurate ------------ hes still going thru relocation stress so its good that he is eating --- he needs to acclimate to the tank and his surroundings -- I am not seeing any stress marks and he looks good -- make sure hes hydrated so take the kale or greens hes eating and rinse them before getting him to eat them -- make sure the dubias are gut loaded -- are the size he can eat you dont want to feed him insects to big or they will impact him --- size no bigger than the space between his eyes length wise --

I know for a fact if the basking temperature isn’t right a bearded dragon will not eat and most likely isn’t going to the bathroom as much as he should, Which could be because of the heat
