Does anyone have any idea what this is

He is a new addition. Had him a handful of days and then this appeared seemingly overnight .
I thought it was a burn but there's no way he could've burned himself. I set up something under the basking spot higher than he could get just as a test and it was only 110°

No insects in his cage

I thought maybe he scratched it on a rock or something in his cage but there's really nothing abrasive and I've also never seen him scratching at all. And like I said this appeared over night

I'm assuming this will be really obvious to experienced keepers but I have no idea and haven't seen it before

It looks like shed- how far is the basking light? Should not be closer than 6"-- how old is he?
