Dex is doing good according to the vet. She checked him all over (very hard to do as he's so small lolol) Good length and weight for his age. No parasites. No sign of impaction issues. She asked a ton of questions about tank, lighting, feed, etc. and thanks to you all I'm doing good with husbandry.
I told her I was concerned with the humidity in his tank becoming too high some days. She said she didn't see any signs of a respiratory infection. Phew! I brought in two samples of his poo for her. She said they looked normal with normal white to brown ratio. So good to know he's getting enough water intake. Woot!
I expressed concerns over how thin he looked and she said he's was fine. Told me to worry about his weight being within parameters rather than stressing about whether he looked fat or not. She gave me a card that had chart of generic lengths and weights according to age so I could track them. She said that I should continue to try to get him to eat his salads. If he doesn't start soon let her know as it could become an issue later when his diet changes to accommodate his subadult/adults needs. Gahh! Going to have to make him eat salads on him somehow. Hoping the dressing I ordered arrives soon and works.
She said that beardies can get too much calcium. Having good UVB lighting in addition to lightly dusting about 1/4 of his daily intake of bugs is ideal for youngsters and juveniles. As he gets older it will decrease to about 3 times a week or like every other day. Good to know. She said he could get ill from too much of the multivitamin intake too so don't over do them. About what I'm doing now or only giving the vitamins every other day is fine for his age. Amounts will decrease slightly for these too as he gets older.
She said his tail is a little concerning as it hasn't shed yet. Told me to keep doing what I'm doing with the baths and lightly brushing with soft toothbrush. She didn't recommend using any aloe or reptile shedding aids, but that was her own opinion and didn't mean it was bad as long as the right products were used and used correctly. She told me to let her know if his tail hadn't shed out by end of next week.
I asked her if she could tell his sex. She took a quick look at pores and under tail and thought girl, but Dex was worked up and stressing from the exam by that point so she didn't want to upset him . . . er her . . . to look closer to be 100% sure. She said something about the size of the base of his head and base of tail being somewhat indicative of a girl, too, but wasn't absolutely certain. I didn't know what she meant by that and my appointment was running over so I didn't ask for clarification.
So overall he . . . er she . . . got a clean bill of health. Yay!
