I am new to owning a bearded dragon. Mine is a 3 month old boy. I am having a hard time getting crickets. What are some good alternatives? And how much and how often should I be feeding.

Dubia roaches are a great alternative to crickets. They are cleaner, live much longer (over a year), are less expensive to maintain, and they are much higher in nutritional value.

Black soldier fly larvae are also a good staple insect. They are so high in calcium you don't need to dust them, and gutloading them is optional. They only live for a few weeks, so you'll need to buy new ones frequently.

Silkworms are great if you can find them, though shipping can be expensive. They're high in nutrients but have a very specialized diet and require prepackaged food.

No matter what feeder you choose, you should be allowing your beardie to eat as much as he wants in a 10-minute time period, 3-5 times a day. Only use supplements for one feeding a day.

It is best to get insects / worms on line --- here are some websites
www.reptilianarts.com good silk worms and they have dubias and small super worms
www.mulberyfarms.com spendy on shipping
www.symtonbsf.com great BSFL -- great for babies feed as many as you want DO NOT dust them they are great salad toppers
www.dubiaroaches.com great roaches as well however I am not sure when they are shipping again
Your dragon needs fresh salads every day here is a website for nutrition

Also, if your beardie is only 3 months old you will probably not be able to tell yet if it’s a boy or a girl. You may have been sold it as a boy but you could have a surprise when it gets to about 5/6 months (you can check it’s sex around this age for confirmation - there will be images on Google to show you the difference). We were sold ours as a boy when it was 4 months old, but now at almost 6 months I’m beginning to believe he is a she :D
