I really wasn't sure where to put this.
So about a month back I had a lot of crickets escape and I am still finding them some I know sometimes one or two escape when I feed my dragon because I haven't found a good way to get crickets from box to cage yet but I feel like in finding more than that. I've heard crickets are easily effected by any pesticides and really prefer not to use any chemicals at all as sometimes when he's out running around he will find one and eat it. So I got some glue traps and put them down in places he and my dogs can't get to, they seem to work great. Until my hamster decided to be a little escape artist again. I literally have this hamster is a 40gl tank with food water toys everything a lid that has rocks on top. I can not keep her in there so there's no way I can leave the glue traps down as i would like to keep finding my hamster alive.
So what can I do? I can't switch feed options right now roaches are cheaper once you start a colony but expensive to start. I keep the crickets in a deep plastic tub with snap lid they can't get out so idk why I see so many.

If a few have escaped maybe they could be breeding in your house . Not a nice thought this is one of the reasons I use locusts . You said it was expensive to set up but if you don't get it under control it's going to be more expensive in the long run if you have to get pest control out . I'd switch now, put the hamster in a room where if he escapes his cage he can't escape the room then try with the glue again . Good luck .

I keep my crickets in a 10 or 20 gallon breeder tank and I use plastic solo cups to get them out. While holding the cup in the tank I shake crickets into the cup. Then I shake them into the other cup to count them, make sure there are no dead ones and to limit the amount of poop I grab. It's so easy to do and it helps to prevent escapees. Also, it's easy to dust crickets in the cup. Just dust and shake, my frogs and beardies know that sound and start to get excited.
