Since Slyder is eating 20-50 crickets a day I got his first bulk order today, 250 crickets. I guess I did not put the top on the bin all the way and it got knocked over. I saw my cat chasing a cricket and at first did not pay any attention because since getting Slyder crickets in the house here and there is normal now. I then quickly realized I have not dropped any crickets in almost a week. I checked the bathroom where I am keeping them until I can find a better place. The bin was on the side and crickets where everywhere. On the ceiling, walls, behind the toilet, down the hallway, in the kitchen, dining room. It was like attach of the crickets. Me and my very tall, 6 foot 5, husband where crammed in my tiny half bathroom catching them. I had crickets jumping in my hair, crawling on my feet. I had about 300 in the bin before it tipped over. We where able to catch most but there are still MANY that got away or smashed in an attempt to catch them. I am so happy the bedrooms are upstairs now. Come on cats...earn your keep and catch those crickets.

This is why everytime i have orders a booster of turkistan roaches (which come loose in a small box taped closed inside a bigger box) i take the package and the tank outside, cut the big box open slowly, inspect, put the little box in the turk tank, cut the little box, dump and shake vigorously, then rock back and forth croched in the corner cause of how creepy they are (slight dramatization). I have always been afraid of my cats getting into the dragon room and nocking over a insect bin. I so hope it never happens.

I have to say, for whatever reason, crickets creep me out more than roaches.... of course, I have Dubias not Turkestan, but still. Ewww... :p

What a nightmare. I have to admit that I am laughing at your expense. I think I would have the willies for weeks after that.

I'm sure Janie is saying - roaches......

I'd chance to bet janie has never had 300 roaches crawling around her bathroom at one time either. I think might give her the wiggles.

It was pretty bad and my husband was about to get the vacuum but I did not want to order more crickets so I made him help me pick them up. I put them in my bin outside in fear they would get out but in a rush I did not lock the lid back on it after I took some out to feed. I found a few this morning but non since about lunch time. I think the cats took care of the remaining escapees.

Janie- I do not know how you do roaches. I get the willies just thinking about them. Not going to lie the crickets had me scratching my head for about 30 minuets after.

Roaches aren't as bad as they sound. I'm not by any means a tomboy and I still keep them. I think of them as big beetles. Can't do wormies tho.. lol. They creep me out.

Dubia roaches look like big beetles but turks look like a cockroach plain and simple and if they werent such a great cheap food source for babies you best believe i would not have them in my home lol. And im a guy that is saying turks creep me the f*@k out.

Ah, they don't bother me.. just the way I am, I guess.. these roaches aren't the nasty kinds, no diseases to worry about, so they are accepted.
Told you all I was kinda different !
