Has anyone heard of the cricket trouble in North America? Apparently the virus found in the crickets was so bad that suppliers cannot supply them anymore (or at least not for a while?). Stores who sell crickets apparently have to get crickets imported from EUROPE. AAAAND, apparently the cost of crickets are supposed to go UP!

I have been able to find crickets at Ghann's. They have almost every size and prices have not gone up. They are in a few week process of staggered shutdown of the farm to ensure the virus does not hit them. While they are somewhat ok on crickets right now they will be running lower then they are now for a while.

Can everyone post where they order their bulk crickets from so if one place is out we can try another that we may not be aware of. I order from Ghanns.com

I am always worried about feeding too large of crickets. Slyder is 15 inches long. Do you think I can switch her to full size crickets as these are the closest in size they have for her feeders?

I used to order from www.coldbloods.com for crickets. Ghann's is one of the few places that didn't have the virus and was sending what they could to other suppliers to help them out too. It's really a rotten situation.

Good thing my babies are over 16 inches now. Since crickets will be limited, I can do a 50/50 with super worms. I could also try getting my hands on adult crickets and start breeding..... though adult crickets are very hard to find over here. :-\

Sandra, I was reading one of your posts on another thread saying Slyder was born September '09. Mine were born then too. Mine are just over 16 inches right now, and are definitely not ready to go onto adult crickets. But as you probably already know, nothing bigger than the space between their eyes.....

I feed her too small of crickets now, only 1/2 inch...that is prob why she eats so much. Ghanns crickets tend to be smaller then what they sell you. Petco orders full size from Ghanns and they are small enough for Slyder to eat. I have some adults now that are ready to breed so I think my adult tank is about to move outside next to my small crix bin and some dirt put in there tank so I can breed some. I really need to get my roaches up and running so if this happens again i dont have to worry about it.
