Could an adult bearded dragon go two days a week without UVB occasionally?

I’ll be adopting an adult beardie if I decide to get one, in 2 years I’m going off to college. They will be at least 3 years by then. The college dorms are closed on weekends, so I’ll have to travel home with the bearded dragon every weekend.

My question is, would they be okay without UVB for the weekend? This will be for maybe 4 months, then 2 months with UVB the full week and then 4 months without on the weekends again. They will be a full grown adult by then.

Would this risk MBD? I’ll just get UVB for the home enclosure and the school enclosure if it can. Maybe I could take the UVB with me? Or should that shorten its lifespan or something? What do you guys think?

Could and should are two very different things, in theory the lizard could go a while without uvb, personally I wouldn’t allow my lizard to go without uvb for more than two days, a week is pushing it, a month probably would be detrimental to its health, uvb helps them digest, grow, and basically keep them healthy, id highly recommend you either wait to get your beardie, or have multiple tanks he can be plopped into, do not transfer uvb from one place to the next, uvb bulbs are pretty delicate and ive heard they can go bad just by moving them (i cant confirm this cause ive never touched my bulbs till the 5 month mark) maybe have a cheapo tank at the place he’s spending the least amount of time and his nice home at the place he’ll be spending the most time

I misread ur post a lil bit, I thought u ment he’d be going without uvb for a month, when u ment he’d only be without it for the weekend ? Id still get him two separate enclosures personally, but aslong as he’s getting atleast some uvb during the weekend , the sun for a couple hours he should be fine, beardies brumate for upto a couple months in dens no food no water no uvb, BUT thats on their terms! Give him some sun for a couple hours on the weekend and he’ll be okay :)

I personally would not play around with his lights. I feel this might confuse the beardie and he would brumate. I Would have two Up to par enclosures for the BD?

I'd just get him a seperate enclosure. Doesn't have to be an expensive one since he'll only be in it two days. I would use a 40 gallon or 60 gallon and just get him out a lot during the time period your away from his real enclosure so he can run around.
