We got our beardie a little over 2 weeks ago from petco. Hes about a month and a half old. He will not eat much so we are concerned. He does have a shed happening.

So I mostly feed it crickets. He will only eat maybe 2 a day. I got up to 5 once but thats it. He will not touch any greens or veggies. Even when dusted with bee pollen and dragon gel. I offer more but he just ignores. He has eaten 1 horned worm. We tried wax worms but he spits them out.

On a side note, basking temps are around 105 and we are using the t5 ho uvb. The set up in the photo is slightly different than it is now but the tank and lighting is the same.

We do have a 30 day return period so if he has an issue I can take him back. We are going to a reptile show tomorrow so im debating on getting a little older one there and bringing him back. I just dont want issues down the road.

Hes going thru relocation stress ---- he needs the UVB in side the tank directly over the basking decor piece 12-15 inches --- how are you taking the basking temp--- please get some digital probe thermometers place on the rock where he would sit wait 10 min get the temp 105-110 no hotter---- one on the basking side one on the cool side -- he is eating he needs time to acclimate to the tank and surroundings if he stops eating all together there is a issue --- please do not put another dragon in that same tank - dragons should NEVER be kept together --- if you need help getting the UVB in the tank please ask I will help -- please order some BSFL from here www.symtonbsf.com --- order medium DO NOT DUST them - add to the top of his salads in front of him use them as salad lures about a hour later feed his staple crickets --

I was told the t5 h/o was ok on top of the screen. Seeing as its a low tank as well it shouldnt be an issue. Its about 11-12 inches from him as is.
Its been 2 weeks and his eating has not changed. I assumed he would be settled by now. My inlaws got 2 dragons at the same time at a similar age and they eat anything and everything put in their tanks.
The temps are taken with a i/r temp gun from about a foot away. I also have a digital hygrometer/thermometer next to the basking area.
I was not going to add a dragon. I was going to bring the dragon I have now back to petco and then get a new older dragon at the reptile show...

He will do the same the dragon you get from the reptile show they all go thru relocation stress---it could take a month or longer for him to settle in - he's a baby and he needs to learn to trust you - it's going to take time and patience- the screen is blocking 30% of those rays-- please unobstruct it so he can get the full effects if it's improperly placed he will quit eating - if you had a wide holed screen it could stay on top then the distance would be 8-10 inches directly over the basking decor--

The basking temps and UVB are the two most important things in the tank-- they control the overall health and behavior--

A T5 is ok on top of screen. That's how mine is. Need it to be at least a 18 inch bulb for the young ones though.
