We need Tracie to address this shes the vet tech on the forum-- please go over the UVB and the surface basking temps - these are crucial in order to get rid of the parasite and keep it away - do you have the fecal test results if so post them please

Hello,

Sorry your dragon is having trouble.
Is your dragon having blood in his stool due to the hookworms? I noticed that the coccidia level
is higher than the hookworm level. Though in this case they both probably should be treated.
Specifically for coccidia, like you said Ponazuril is the best but Toltrazuril (generic) is just as
effective for coccidia. Can your vet get that one?
Panacur or Fenbendazole is effective against hookworms.
The Metronidazole wont really do anything against coccidia or hookworms though. The Pyrantel
Pamoate is effective against the hookworms.
That's great he gave a probiotic also for her. What is the probiotic called? I would give it to her
daily right now to help settle her system down.
Definitely keep her tank clean. You can use paper towels & cardboard if needed, for easy cleaning
& take out any wooden items right now until to keep the tank cleaner.
Does he eat any greens right now? If so you can also add some parsley, cilantro, mint & basil or
oregano to his greens as a natural parasite deterrent.

hi!! thanks for the reply :) unfortunately i live in brazil and here we dont have ponazuril. is impossible even to order or manipulate it on a compouding pharmacy. she’s eating well, the probiotic that shes on is called “vetnil”. the only other option that we have here for coccidia is trimethopim. but im scared, cause i already hearded that it’s not good (side effects). so tell me what u think!
the vet said to gave her baths daily too, and clean her vent with mild soap.

Hello,

Wow, that is terrific. Yes, the Toltrazuril works very well. What percentage of paste or liquid is it, do you have
a picture of it? Usually the Toltrazuril is dosed at 20mg/kg & given in just 2 or 3 doses.
You can give once every 5 days, for 2 or 3 treatments.
How is your dragon doing today?

Hello,

You are welcome! They usually hate taking the medications but you can't blame them.
I hope shes feeling better soon.
Be sure to rinse everything well when cleaning so there isn't any residue to offgas.
Keep her well hydrated & getting another fecal done is a good idea also to see if there is improvement.

hii! updates! she’s very well, she gained 20g! the vet did metronidazole for coccidia and apparently it worked! the new test said that she has ancylostoma (++) and oxiurus again she’s been in a battle with oxiurus. so now we gonna change the bases of the medication - she did the tratament for oxiurus with panacur before… - now we gonna use mebendazole! the vet prescribed for 3 days (0,3ml) is this correct and then (14 days after repeat it)? cause the other vet told me to give just 1 dose and repeat 14 days after too! she’s on probiotics still and eating very well!
