Can I put any old chunk of wood from my yard in my little dragon’s viv for him to climb on? Do I have to do anything to the wood before I put it in?

Yes you need to sanitize it first. You can bake it at 200-225 degrees for 2-3 hours or you can do a bleach soak. The bleach soak takes DAYS. You soak it in a bleach solution (1/2 cup bleach to 1 gallon of water) making sure it's completely covered for 24 hours. Take it out, rinse and then soak in plain water changing the water every hour or so for 1-2 days, then when that is done you let it dry for a few days. I would go with the baking! You want to make sure it's dry before you bake it so it doesn't crack.
