Hello, everyone. I've been a busy person recently. Maya has been thriving. I have pics but lost the cord to the camera at the moment.

I do have a question to ask. Have you ever done this? My lighting fixture decided to kick the can by popping and stinking like burnt wire. I tried to turn it off and it wouldn't so I ended up unplugging the fixture and checking out everything. However, I didn't realize I would run into the situation of having to use my Ceramic Heat Emitter fixture for a basking light. Today, it wasn't hot enough so here's what I did.

I took the CHE wire cage off today and put the reflective dome on. Is it safe to use the Emitter with a Reflective Dome?

I have personally seen it done and it has worked but keep a close eye on it. Some of those heat emitters get stupidly hot depending on the watts. Once it's on for a few hours and you notice no problems or smells then it should be good to go

I would deffientally get that. I have a 75 watt heat emitter and if I want to with the 75 watt day bulb I can get the tank to 125 degrees and it's a 55 gallon. So 125 way heat emitter will throw off some massive heat

I was looking up what fixture I have by way of the CHE. It's a Exo-Terra Light Wire Fixture for CHE, Incandescent Bulbs, and Mercury Vapour bulbs. They have a wire housing to allow air flow. There is plenty of air flow into the fixture even with a reflective dome and I keep an eye on the fixture itself. Feeling the wire and making sure it's not smelling at all. There's no smell at all. I'm lucky so far. I'm not going to go with Zoo-Med Fixtures anymore. Exo-Terra seems to be the best type of reptile items. I have a Exo-Terra Basking Light and it lasts long and gives Maya her light and heat. She loves it.
