calcium and vit supps

Got a question...today I noticed 2 of my baby beardies scratching and trying to eat the white specks (calcium supplement) off the bottom of their floor. Now, keep in mind that the crickets I feed my beardies are fed the same calcium and vit supps my beardies are fed and I keep fresh fruits and veggies out at all times. So with that said, I put a small dish of calcium and vit supps in their cage and one of them immediately came over and started eating a little of it. Is it ok to leave a dish of supplements in there for them to nibble on throughout the day or as they need it and can they so-call overdose on calcium and vit supplements? I don't want to harm them in any way but it makes me think they are lacking something in their diet. Please help I want them to be healthy and grow properly. Any advice is gr4atly appreciated since we are new to the Beardie world.

OK....I thought I had heard that from somewhere.... I took it out. I hey must be just digging at it because it looks different against the gravel paper. Thanx for your input.

Are you feeding other things besides crickets? You want to have a good varied diet to make up for any shortcomings. Give a wide breadth of live foods like crickets, roaches, nightcrawlers, hornworms, phoenix worms, silk worms, etc

We are...all kinds of veggie and fruit mixes as well as vita crickets, and I bought a small container of wax worms to give as treats.

From what I can find they are toxic for reptiles but good for bait. I think anything that turns into a butterfly or moth with the exception of hornworms and silk worms are considered toxic.
