My reptisun t5 hood’s bulb burnt out when i heard a pop when i woke up this morning. The hood that im using came on the 5th and the bulb 10.0 came on the 8th. Could it possibly be that my uvb fixture was to close to my basking bulb and the heat from the dome did something? I didn’t mist at the bulb or anything, like i just woke up when popped, its also on a timer at 9 am

I haven't heard of a bulb damaging any durable light fixtures. Sometimes bulbs will blow out if the bulb wattage is too high for the fixture-maybe that's what happened?

I am wondering if the controller has something to do w/ it blowing the bulb--- I would change the bulb out and leave the controller off and see what it does

The controller is the power pack and supply to the bulb, does the hood have a wire running from it with a box then a plug on the end? If not your hood will have a built in one. basically the hood has a wattage and if you put a bulb in that exceeds that it will blow.

Bulb should not have blown by itself w/ the fixture --- I have the same set up and its never done that BUT I DO NOT use a timer / controller etc -- mine are turned on and off manually - that is why I said to use the fixture and new bulb manually to see if it fixes the problem if it still blows w/ out the timer etc its the fixture itself I am thinking -- its a process of elimination to see what the cause is --

Yes, ok i get ya. So the hood originally comes with a T5 5.0 24 watt bulb and what i have is a T5 10.0 24 watt bulb, it even said on the box that it supports it too. But yea the wire with the plug on the end actually goes on the back of the hood
