Hi Guys,

Not for my reps but for me lol. (so just a quick update)

I have not been around lately as all my scalies are in brumation (except the bat eater). Winter solstice today in OZ so we're halfway there.

I have got a few new projects in the works so they have been keeping me busy. I have a new wine fridge incubator that i have made. Works a treat and is in full working order as a wine fridge so I can cook in winter and when all the hatchlings are finished I can use it to keep the wine cold and watch the fruits of the labour with a glass of red in hand lol.

I am getting some new "gold" this weekend ;) pics as soon as they settle in.

The knobtailed pair have been put together in the same enclosure so I will be bringing them out of their winter slumber in the next three weeks to get it on (wawa..chika..wawa).

I'm researching and looking into some pure black and white jungle pythons (Morelia spilota cheynei) from the Jullaten region of QLD. I quit smoking so the wife said "quite smoking and you get a new python". Now that's what i call motivation to quite the filthy 15 year habit (struggling but keeping strong without the cigs).

Moving lots of enclosure around and tweakin. I freed up a 4x2x2 by moving the bat eater into the bottom part of the gecko complex. I will be getting some monitors (goanas) soon and I'm looking into the first available pair/trio of pygmy mulga monitors (Varanus gilleni) of next years hatchies from breeders.

I have a spare 24x18x24 enclosure for a trio of marbled velvet geckos WA form (Oedura mamoratas) in the works as well. Probably October next year after the goanas.

My story so far (quite busy really when you put it down in writting lol).

So what have you guys been up to?

Cheers,

Nothing worth mentioning after reading all you are doing. LOL

I quit smoking 25 years ago. I can honestly say I am still addicted. For some people the desire never really goes away. Good for you for kicking the habit. One of the hardest things I have ever done.

Best wishes to you in all you are doing!! : )

Sounds like you are busy.
I quit 14 years ago...I also am still adicted. There are times I can't stand the smell and other times I would kill. Good luck with that!

Lisa!! I get Broncitis at the drop of a hat now and there are times when it will kick me right into an asthma attack.( I have a mild case). But if someone is smoking a menthol(at the time I quit I smoked Salem, long, lights) I am drawn to it like a moth to a flame. I could never take just a puff or I'd be smoking a pack again. Just like that!! *SNAP* At the time I quit I weighed 104 and had weighed that for 17 years. And NOW...Well....YOU know what I weigh!! If I started up again not only would I be addicted again but I'd be a fat, old lady. Toking on those ciggies. EWWWWW!!!!

Congrats on quitting smoking! I know it must be tough. My hubby is battling with it too. I can't wait to see your "gold". All is well over here. Making room for my Aussie Frilled coming in a couple months but that's really it.

Sounds like you are keeping busy bro. Congrats on the smoking battle. I am 14 months smoke free currently (after 13 years of 1.5 - 2 packs a day)

What have I been up to

Getting eggs ready (have 42 cooking) and still acclimating to New Orleans.

I quit smoking 4 years ago. Every now and again I still want a cigarette. Nasty addiction. Congratulations though! And congratulations to Cryptic for the up and coming new arrivals. I am looking forward to seeing pictures of them. I do not really think I will be breeding. I really do not want to creed a german with a non german....I digress. Once again yay on the non smoking!!!!

Ha! Ha! All that great stuff going on and everyone is focussing on smoking. So, I'll jump in. I stopped, I don't know how many years ago (14 or so?). I did a unique method and it reprogrammed me to before taking the first drag. Hate to say, I never think about it and don't remember me as a smoker. Cig smoke turns my stomach now.

Anyway, glad to hear from you and enjoy that python.

Acupuncture? My father-in-law was a heavy smoker and gave it up just like that after treatment!!

Have actually considered it or hypnosis for my weight issues.

OOPS!! Had to go back and do spell check. Don't want to look like a DUM-DUM!!! Did pretty good except I had one "C" too many in Acupuncture!! LOL!!

Thanks for all the support guys, it's a struggle as most of you know. I don't actually crave the nicotine as I never really smoked that much at home but at work I did. So on the weekends I use to only have 1 or 2 cigs and none at home on the weekdays, it's the "habit' that I'm struggling with.

Mate, your going to have your hands full with 42 eggs cooking. Did you end up making the incubator or are you still living in a styrofoam forest?

Using bators right now just didnt have the time to set aside for a craft project of the magnitude that the custom would have been. maybe next season lol.

Not for smoking. I've used it for other things. I did a unique method called the Passabeque Method. Not sure of the spelling. It was discovered by a Chemist who had really bad rheumatoid arthritis. He did some research and came up with this method to help the arthritis. Low and behold, he stopped smoking too - with no weight gain.

Ok, I'll stop stealing the thread.

Mate, grab this issue of Reptiles Australia for reference on the incubator. I modelled mine from it and there's also a couple of great articles on dwarf monitors (acanthurus and gilleni). They'll happily ship it to you.
